The Japanese coast guard and earthquake experts say a volcanic eruption
has raised a new island in the seas to the far south of Tokyo. Pictures
filmed by the Japanese coast guard showed clouds of heavy smoke,
billowing steam and waters roiling over the newly formed crater. (November 2013)
